First came delectable hansher dim kosha from Rimli @rimleed and Sayantani @ahomemakersdiary . Then a stunning hansher dimer dalna from Deepa @hamareerasoi .

Bombayites do love their Irani cafes.
The hypnotic aroma of baking that lingered out from the kitchens.
Their quirky lists of dos and don'ts (enough to inspire Nissim Ezekiel to pen Irani Restaurant Instructions )
The sinful Bun Maska accompanied with the addictive Irani Chai.
The smorgasbord of biscuits, sweet and savory, stored in trademark glass jars displayed in a disciplined row on the counter, that they still love to pack for home.
And their to-die-for mawa cake.

No Prathamashtami passes by without me remembering Satapathi Aunty.
All those languorous summer afternoons I spent with her. Under the ancient mango tree in her backyard. Talking of Odisha. Of socialism and class divides. Of her rosy-eyed dreams of a bright future for those who did not exist for the ruling elite.

The laggard morning snails along.
Bapi perseveres with the crossword puzzle, conquering the white squares with great gusto, sipping his tea in between.
Grandma retires to the thakurghor to wake up her dearest Bal Gopal.
Dada attacks his luchis with voracious ferocity, pleading for one more helping and then another and then yet another, till Maa reminds him of the mutton that’s cooking for lunch.
And lunch is indeed elaborate, as is on Sundays, the rustic yet delectable Gota Moshlar Mangsho by far the piece de resistance of the meal.
Only whole spices, Maa reminds me when I call her for the recipe of Gota Moshlar Mangsho, no ground spices please.
